I own a 550 varmint, with the walnut stock, chambered in .308. It shoots 1/2 moa 5 shot groups out to 600 yards. I’m delighted with the function and accuracy of this rifle, and intend to shoot a couple of production division PRS matches with it this fall. Thanks for such a great rifle. It’s a blast to shoot, and is a wonderful value for the money.

Amazing precision. With this rifle and Nikon BDC I shot roebuck at distance of 270 meters precisely just as it would be 100 meters or even less.
Fox shooting on 200+ meters is just natural for this gun. CZUB you have my respect 🙂

I bought this gun in 2004. I recently put a Vortex 6.5-20X40 on it. With scope, rings, bipod, cheek pad and pocket, it weighs in just a hair over 13 pounds. I consistently shoot two-liter soda bottles at between 300 and 500 yards. I am sure it can do better, but that’s what I can do. It’s chambered in .308. I absolutely love this gun. I think it was $500 in 2004.

Purchased in 2005 NIB From Sportsmans Warehouse. Installed a Red Field 6-24 x 50mm target scope w/ adjustable A/O. Mounted on top with Leupold high scope rings.
The trigger pull out of the box was’nt the best. It was just not smooth and just didn’t break consistently. I used a snap cap, cycled the bolt and pulled the trigger for about 8 hours while watching tv over a weeks time. After breaking the trigger in. I took it to the range. I bought 5 boxes of Fed White box ammo 50grn HPBT .22-250. (15.50 a box in 2005 those were the days). First 3 round group at 100 yards was 1/2. Using a Harris bi-pod on a bench rest. Virtually NO recoil to speak of, nothing to cause trigger panic, unless your shooting without ear pro.
I shot and cleaned the barrel for the first 50 rounds. Took just short of 5 hours.
I worked up a load, using a Nosler 55 grn Ballistic Silvertip Hunting & Varmint Bullet. In front of Vihtavuori N140 powder.
This bullet/powder combo is incredible! Now achieving 1 hole groups at 100y and 3/4″ groups at 200y.
This bullet has another neat claim to fame as well as the accuracy. The Nosler Ballistic Silvertip Varmint Bullet has a thin coating of thier Lubalox® on the bullets outter surface, that dose reduce barrel fouling fouling. 1 brush dipped in solvent in and out 3 times, then 1 patch the barrel. Clean as polished chrome! 1 more patch with oil before storing and good to go.
I’ve read some post on the web, that said some stuff about accuracy out of the box. I cant say that about anything I’ve fed thru it so far. After aprox. 2000 rounds the barrel rifliings still look like new. And this CV-550 Varment Laminate in .22-250 is a dream to shoot.
Open eye scope viewing of the bullet pressure wave, as the bullet flies down range to 300y targets. I do not shoot larger than 55grn bullets, so the 1 in 14 twist is fine for the bullet weight I shoot.
I just cant write enough good stuff about this rifle. It’s just Amazing!
Thanks CZ, first for the CZ-75 I purchased in 1986 in Germany, Another fine crafted fire arm out of your plant! Now my CZ-550 Varmint Laminate in .22-250 Rem, Which is my favorite shooter of all time. I will never part with willingly.

This is a great rifle! I have a Vortex 6 to 24×50 PST FFP mounted with CZ base and Burris rings. Last week I shot a 3″ group at 500 yards. It is amazing!
I wish the twist was 1 in 10, rather than 1 in 12. I like to shoot at long range with 175gr Mk HpBt.
