Discontinued 2012 – 9 mm Browning, satin nickel (cal. 380 AUTO) – The CZ 83 is a compact all steel semi-automatic handgun, designed on the blowback breech principle.
Mash – September 8, 2016:
Nice piece of steel to have for self defence, luckily I manage to get brand new one, I love the size and the trigger is awesome. Big up to CZ just sad that is being discontinued.
Bob D. – August 21, 2016:
I bought a CZ83 about a year ago and I’m convinced there is no more reliable accurate .380 on the planet. Fit and finish is also superb, and if you’re confident with the caliber it’s an outstanding choice for CCP.
Ed Glenn – August 11, 2016:
I was lucky to find a brand new CZ-83, at a premium price. It eats any ammo without a hickup; I’ve shot 9 different brands of ammo in the three weeks I’ve had it. Very accurate. The slide is easier to rack if I cock the hammer first as I have a bit if arthritis in my hands. I love this solid, well built gun. Nice crisp trigger. The extra heft reduces the felt recoil and muzzle jump. Soo..now I have another CZ on order..

I have carried my CZ 83 for years. Perfect size and weight. All CZ pistols seem to shoot like they’re broken in right out of the box, and continue to perform consistently. The only problem I have is that after letting my wife shoot it,she now wants mine! CZ, with all the new popularity of .380 auto, please bring this classic back.
HCK – June 22, 2016:
I have owned a CZ83 for many years and it is my favorite of the .380’s I wish they would go back in production again as I would buy a new one with a 12 round magazine. I have tried all types of ammo and never had a problem of any kind. A handgun you can trust.
John W. – June 18, 2016:
I was lucky enough to find one NIB. The fit and finish are fantastic. Thanks to the heft of the steel frame and the crisp trigger, followup shots split very fast.
This is the only .380 I’d ever recommend as a carry weapon thanks to how it enables rapid followup shots and the fact that it actually has an adequate capacity. If I lived in an urban environment with fewer large furry potential threats, I’d not be uncomfortable carry this.
George – June 7, 2016:
Bought a CZ 83, after having owned a CZ 75. Both have been great pistols. Everyone who has fired the CZ 75, has loved it’s handling. Lucked out and have been able to get 12 Rd mags for the 83. Both will be going to my son when I can no longer see the sights. They’re now part of the family legacy.
Robin Jacobs – May 17, 2016:
Just bought a BRAND NEW CZ83! Test target is dated Dec. 14th of 2015! Proof mark is the new CIP over N style that is mandatory as of last year (2015). Looks to me like the very fine and accurate model 83 is at least in limited production. And a few are coming back into the states after all!
Willy – February 5, 2016:
I have the military version, the cz 82. Great gun. Wish there were some high capacity magazines.
Joe – November 11, 2015:
I own one CZ82, bought it because my son in law had one. Shoots great, accurate and not a lot of recoil. Would not sell it for anything.
Keith Dupree – October 3, 2015:
Son bought a CZ-82 at an auction. I was so impressed with his worn out pistol that I bought a CZ-83 in January 2013 and use it as my CCW . CZ pistols are top notch and can compete with anybody.
Frank Morales II – September 11, 2015:
Bought a Glock 23 (40SW)- did not like recoil. Came across a CZ 97B and fell in love with its power and less recoil than Glock. I’ve since bought a CZ 75-P01 – now my carry gun. Wish the CZ 83 was available – I would buy it too.
Bob Phillips – September 9, 2015:
I own a 83 & a 82, I would love to see the 83 come back into production. I would buy a blue steel with night sights in a heartbeat!
William Morrissey – June 20, 2015:
I’d be happy to see it back whether in 9mm or in .380! I’d buy 3 blued- 1 for me and 1 each for my kids. I can’t believe it wouldn’t be a hit, considering that the Walther PPK continues to sell well despite the many complaints about the S&W, or really ANY from this century.
John Kirkpatrick – June 14, 2015:
I started my journey with the CZ-82’s that were being surplus sold in America. I bought two and had them refinished. They were excellent pistols, very reliable and accurate. I have been shooting guns now for about 50 years. I purchased a few more CZ-82’s, all total a dozen. I then bought two new Blued steel CZ 83’s, and still have them. Again, very accurate, fits my hands well, never jams, easy to clean and are easily carried CCW for self protection. I have 5 CZ-82’s that are used as Gun Range guns for use by friends and visitors. Everyone likes them. My experience with this pistol has led me to purchase a new CZ-75 Compact today. Great Guns, Great Company.
Joseph Nicosia – May 3, 2015:
Great gun. Also have the 75B. Wish you would bring back the 83 but in 9mm
Kenny – April 29, 2015:
Very accurate pistol. I love the feel of the all steel frame and the weight of the gun. Easy to clean and really like the fixed barrel. Too bad the gun has been discontinued.
Bob – March 8, 2015:
I recently bought this model CZ 83 NIB…although the .380 cartridge is likely my least favorite self defense round, the function reliability, fit, finish and amazing precision/accuracy of this handgun is the trade off; and, that said, a confidence builder for conceal carry.
John Clements – February 5, 2015:
Have two surplus pieces..both fully functional and awesome. Wish I could find a new one. Wish you still produced this pistol.I also own a 75 omega, also another awesome weapon. Have recommended Czs to all my shooter friends.
jim vickers – December 18, 2014:
Too sweet to sell. Buy lots of 32 ACP ammo cause this is a shooter and a looker. It’s even made for left handed freaks. Blue steel, no jams, nice heft and once it’s in your hand you know it’s your pistol forever.
Rafael – October 22, 2014:
This pistol is excellent, I bought one 8 years ago and every time I go to the range and shoot, I realized how good it is. Hopefully if I need some parts I always can get it from CZ.
