The Carbine is an intermediate range 'brush gun.' This handy rifle features open sights, a straight comb walnut stock and weighs less than 6 pounds! It's the only model in the CZ family of bolt action rifles that is chambered for the popular 7.62x39. This cartridge is a top pick for younger shooters for its low recoil and effectiveness on medium sized game such as deer or wild boar out to 200 yards. Both cartridges offered in the 527 Carbine model are economical to shoot given their service rifle heritage.
The barrel of the 7.62x39 has a .311 bore, contributing to its excellent accuracy with inexpensive surplus ammo.

Just had a chance to get to the range with my new 527 carbine in 7.62x39. Mounted a Leupold VX3 2.5x8x36 on cz rings. Very nice set up, light, fast handling and accurate at the 100yd targets that I was shooting at. Really like the set trigger as well on this one as I do on my 527 varmint 223. Keep up the good work CZ.
Love that little mini-mauser action and set-trigger in my 221 Fireball, by far my favorite walk-about varmint rig. But now what I really want from CZ is that sweet lil' 527 in 6.5 Grendel. With a 20-22" barrel...what an efficient light-weight set-up that'd be!!!!
I currently own 4 cz rifles. one in .17 hornet, one in .223, one in 7.62x39, and a new 512 in .22mag. all but the .22 are 527 models, in my 80yrs i have owned and fired hundreds of firearms of all types. none have even come close to the workmanship, handling, accuracy, and dependabelity of the czs. to the manufacturer--thank you. chamber the 527 in 6.5 grendel and you have an instant sale from me.
I have an SKS I dressed up with a collapsible stock, pistol grip, etc, and I wanted a sister gun for it cause ammo is cheap.Read alot of reviews & forums, and every seemed to like the 527. So I said,"what the hell, I'll get a bolt gun." Glad I made that choice. The flamed walnut and the blueing is beautiful.Feels great in my hands.Popped a 6x scope on and got a couple extra mags. It'll be a couple months before I can get it out to the range and see what it does, but I've read enough reviews to know what to expect. I'm target shooting guy and hunting has never crossed my mind before, but to be honest it's starting to. Hell-I might even invest in 7.62 x 39 ammo that cost more than (Gasp!) $6 a box!\(◕o◕)/ Funny thing- ya know, I haven't even THOUGHT of that sks in a while.....
300 blackout in the carbine, talk about a great scout rifle! Please !!!
Larry, the Carbine is 1:12 while the Varmint is 1:9 - the expectation being that the varmint gun would use the slower twist for heavier grain bullets. 5.56 bullets of 55gr would work wonderfully in your carbine, which is more appropriate for its usage. I love my varmint, btw - I group under 0.35" at 100 yards. I'll be getting the carbine next - and I suggest you find a 527 Varmint!
I was so taken by the looks, feel, and how it throws up to the shoulder,I didn't even think to ask rate of twist. If I had known the rate of twist was on 1:12 I would not have bought it. Its mine now so I'll live with it. Can 5.56 be shot in it?
i have a 527 in7.62x39,great little brush gun, very accurate. I am well satisfied and really like the single set triger.IT WILL BE MY Grandson's first rifle in a few years,he is 15 mounths now
C'mon CZ - make the 527 in 300 Blackout, 16 inch barrel and threaded 5/8 x 24. It would be the ultimate rifle for this great cartridge!
MY CZ527 CARBINE CAME IN A TRADE.I GOT A BARGAIN.WITH ONLY A 100RNDS FIRED OUT OF IT,CAME WITH A SLING,5MAGS,AND 500RNDS.NO SCOPE.A WINNER IN MY BOOK
I've had my 7.62x39 527 for a couple years now, and I really like it. It is the bolt-action companion to my AK and, believe it or not, I use it for target shooting and learning to hand-load ammo. Would love to see a 300 BLK carbine with a threaded barrel, similar to Gerald's wish for 300 Whisper. 6.5 Grendel would also be one of my top two choices.
One of the best woods rifles ever made. I have the 7.62 version, wanted a little power than the 223. One of the only ways to improve than I see is to add a few different caliber choices. 6.5 grendel would be an obvious choice. It has an edge on the 6.8 and seems to be on the way up with more of a future. The 300 whisper would be interesting as well. Good job on the 17 hornet by the way, one of those in my future. Thanks for building the best rifles for the money.
I love this rifle but I only have 2 small problems with it 1 I would like to be able to have a ten roound mag for it and 2 I have to keep it under lock down when it is not in my hands because my father and almost everyone that has seen it keeps trying to either buy it from me or steal it bushloafer brigade commander Clay Alexnder bushloafer@gmail.com
just purchased a cz 527 in 7.62x39mm and I absolutly love this rifle,it will shoot 1 hole groups at 100yds with tula 122gr fmj ammo. I could'nt be happier. what a beautifull rifle
Maybe since the 6.5 Grendel is now Saami spec CZ will make a 527 in it? I love my 204 CZ 527!
I have a varmint and varmint kevlar in .204 Ruger and an American in .223 with the maple stock. I love them all. The 6.5 Grendel would be a great addition to this line.
Upon puchasing my Carbine I topped it with a Burris 6X scope. After wiping the bore and then firing one fouling shot I proceeded to put the next 5 rounds into a 1" group at 100yds. That's right, shots number 2-6 for this rifle went into 1". The ammo was Cor-Bon Hunter PN:HT762X39150.I was astounded, but not shocked as I also own a CZ75 Compact 9mm and a CZ83 and was already familiar with the QUALITY that oozes from CZ products.Any time I look for something new, my first stop is CZ-USA.
I recently purchased a slightly used CZ527 carbine in the Rem .223. I have to say it is quite an impressive weapon. Even using a 62g round (for 1:12 twist), it zeroed at 100 yds within a 1.5" grouping and I expect even tighter groups with 50-55 grain rounds. The single-set trigger is superb, crisp, and light as a feather and the weapon feels very comfortable in hand and against cheek. I expect to enjoy shooting this weapon in the brushy Texas Hill Country for many years to come.
I went to the gun shop yesterday intending to purchase a Ruger Mini 14 and noticed a CZ 527 Carbine in .223. I picked up the CZ and it just felt great in my hands. Needless to say I purchased the CZ and left the Mini 14 on the store rack. I went to the range with some coworkers today to sight in the Carbine and one of them brought his Mini 14. Let's just say I am very pleased with my choice (and I love Rugers!).
Had a good client bring me one of these little carbines in 7.62x39 to use as the basis for an integrally suppressed varmint rifle. I was incredibly impressed with the quality and handling characteristics of this outstanding little rifle: I already own a 452 that I use as a suppressor test bed and shoot a CZ75 in IDPA so the quality came as no surprise. We completed the suppressed conversion and with cheap, surplus ammo it STILL shoots MOA, just MUCH quieter now. We're about to load some subs for it and see how quiet it can be. Because of the excellent quality of these little rifles I'm STRONGLY considering using the 527 as the basis for ALL of our integrally suppressed bolt actions. I will be ordering another 527 in 7.62x39 that will be converted to .45 ACP (the mag well will accept a 1911 magazine with a simple filler block) as well as a .223 model that we'll convert to 300 Blackout/Whisper. My only request is that you sell these FINE little actions to gunsmiths like myself so we can build custom rifles from them the way we can with CZ's 550 action. -Jeb Burnett, V.P. Received a .223 as Christmas present. One of the nicest rifles I have ever owned. Accurate, sweet handling and an all around pleasure to shoot. Have 3 adult children, Am going to order one for each!
I have been shooting rifles for 62 years, but the most pleasant to handle and fire, and the most accurate for its weight is my CZ 527 7.62X39mm Carbine that I bought in 2008. Now a retired professor and a master hand-loader, I am getting .5" groups at 100 yards on the range and have begun work to develop a long range target load. I could not quest for accuracy with a more pleasant companion than the CZ 527 7.62X39mm Carbine.
Folks: I've got to tell you - I've used and own many rifles and often find myself first in line to pick up a new release from reputable manufacturers. But when I purchased this CZ 527 Carbine in 7.62 x 39 caliber (at the recommendation of a gun store employee), I was completely taken aback at how compact and accurate this rifle is. The trigger pull is sweet and I'm lovin' that Mauser action. I put a good 4-16 tactical scope on it and wow...the performance is second to none. I dressed mine up a bit (see photo) to make it comfortable for me. I strongly suggest anyone looking for a fantastic compact rifle/carbine, by all means check out the CZ 527 line of rifles. Quality is an understatement here - they're the best.
Just got a blacktail buck with this rifle using factory loaded Federal 123 grn. medium game ammo. Thirty yard lung shot passed through and killed him dead. I wasn't able to recover the bullet. I imagine some people would point out that most hunting calibers out there would do the same thing at that range but I really enjoy this rifle's handiness and lack of recoil. Very handy rifle. I love the iron sights, light overall weight, short overall length, the accuracy is good, the action is quick and smooth, the trigger is crisp and light. Very handy rifle. Paul P.S. I'm excited about Hornady's 123 grn SST and 123 grn zmax load for 7.62x39.
Smaller than my hunting 22 rifle yet chambered in 7.62. Wow. Put on tiny Leupold rimfire scope in 3-7x33 (these handle centerfire recoil no problem). Used low rings from Millett. Pretty nice cheek weld and no interferance from bolt. Will mount Williams WGRS to rear over the winter as I want to use it both scoped and on irons. It is terrific at being used either way! Very accurate even using cheap Bear ammo. What a fun rifle.
I've got a Carbine in 7.62 and love it. The people at the range are downright amazed when they hear this unassuming little gun fire! Great fun! Best trigger of any gun I own. CZ is hands down the best value going.
My 8 year old son Luke, killed this nice 180 lb. boar this morning with our favorite gun, the CZ 527 carbine and 762 x 39. I am super proud of him. He made a great shot off hand at about 25 yards.
Would like to see this rifle with a Mannlicher stock carbine length 7.62x39 version. I see the 223 and 222 but a Mannlicher with a spoon/butterknife bolt handle would be so cool. I have 3 Full stock 452 but carbine legth would be better and of course the spoon.butterknife handles would look awesome.
Shooting my new CZ 527 carbine in 7.62x39 has been the most fun I have had in years. I put a Leupold 2.5x8 scope on it using CZ rings. Forget the internet trash about hard scope fit or poor cheek weld with the european stock. The scope fit on easily and was zeroed in 9 shots. The rifle comes to the shoulder and you are looking right through the scope with great cheek weld. Groups ran from 2.5" for one brand to 1.3" for another shooting 5 shot groups at 100 yards. Not bad for cheap surplus ammo. Wait til I can try handloads! This rifle is fun to shoot. It balances well. It comes to the shoulder like a fine shot gun. The trigger is wonderful. My grandkids are always after me to get out the "Little Russian" to shoot. It is my new favorite rifle. CZ has truly delivered a well made product that is an excellent dollar value. The attractivly grained stock is really fitted nicely, finished and checkered well. The metal parts are well polished and deaply blued. The neat little Mauser action makes other bolt actions look cheap. The whole package just plain shouts quality. I had been toying with the idea of buying one for two years. I kick myself for waiting so long. What fun!
Just got mine for my daughter. 3.5X10X50 Simmons and sighted in. Placed 6 shots touching, changed target and shot 3 more touching with factory ammo! I am fixing to start with handloads. Impressive.
I would love to see the CZ 527 carbine in a 6.8 SPC or 250-3000 Savage chambering. Either should have an accuracy advantage over the 7.62x39 and would be legal for deer in more areas than the .223.
- Note from editor the 250-3000 Savage is too large to feed through the 527 action, but the 6.8 SPC is possible and is available through the Safari Classics custom shop.
It would sure be nice to see a M527 Carbine in 6.5mm Grendel, 6.8mm, or a 6.5x47mm Lapua. All three would be much better choices than the 7.62x39mm for deer hunting in applications where a very light weight rifle would be the best tool. If it would fit in the action Remington's new .30 AR would be an excellent choice as well to chamber in this carbine.
I purchased the 527 Carbine about a month ago. Put a Leupold 3x9-40 with a LR. Shot it for the first time last week at 25 yards then at 100 yards. I am so impressed with this rifle and how it performed. I'm looking at the target in my office. I've made some adjustments to the scope and can not wait to get back to the range and test her out. I plan on using it this year on muley's and pigs.I feel sorry for the muley's and pigs. I just wish my father was alive to appreciate this rifle, I miss hunting with him.
The rifle is quite well made, and shoots great. Overall the quality of the blue steel, the wood finish and checkering, the crisp single set trigger, the sight picture, the balance, the accuracy, the ergonomics, really every thing about it is very excellent. Based on the quality of this gun I would certainly consider another firearm from CZ in the future. Say thanks to your excellent craftsmen who made it!
