The CZ 527 Varmint has a heavy 24" hammer forged barrel and two stock options. The rifle can be equipped with a walnut American-style stock or a grey laminate stock with palm swell and wide forend for use on a forward rest.
The Varmint retains all of the features that made the 527 famous, from its controlled round feed and claw extractor to its single set trigger and hammer forged barrel. Scope mounts are integrated into a forged, square bridge receiver (rings not included). The rifle comes with a 5-round detachable box magazine.
The 527 Varmint models in .223 Remington feature a 1:9" twist barrel, intended to stabilize bullets up to 70 grains, while the 527 American models in .223 feature a 1:12" twist more suitable for bullet weights of 55 grains or less.

A 5 shot group @ 50m using Eley ammo 1050 speed, the group measured .275
I'm still dialing in my hand loads, but man can this thing shoot. Here are pics from my best 100 yard load so far. Four out of five shots are within 0.26" C-C. 52 grain Hornady AMax, Federal cases, 26.9 grains H335, Winchester small rifle primers.

worst case scenario shooting - Added 4 months, 3 weeks ago. Added by bruno
Being an army veteran I like to challenge myself and shoot in the worst possible scenario. I took my CZ 550 Varmint .308 up into the high hills near my home in Woodland Wa. and shot this grouping at 200 yards. It was raining and snowing with the wind blowing approx. 20 miles per hour, it was also dusk and there was considerable fog blowing through. I was at 2000ft above sea level using a leupold vx-1 3x9 40mm scope.
CZ 527 Varmint .223 - Added 6 months, 3 weeks ago. Added by Eric T.
The accuracy from this rifle is absolutely outstanding. I have been experimenting with hand-loads to try and find what the rifle likes the best. After about 35 different loads I have found one which I am very happy with. Out of all the loads I tested all shot sub MOA which was great, but the load it liked best was 50 GR V-MAX over 27.3 Gr of H-335 seated .010 from the lands. This Load grouped .3 inches CTC at 100 yards (shown in picture) and even more amazingly .6 inches CTC at 200 yards. Amazing rifle at a reasonable price!

Took this in the spring. CZ 527 varmint Kev .204 allowed my four year old daughter to see it all. She's too impatient for shotgun range just yet. We have been so impressed with this gun we stopped having custom varmint rigs built.
CZ 527 Varmint Kevlar .223 Mangy Coyote Killer - Added 2 years, 5 months ago. Added by Frank P.
This is by far my favorite rifle regardless of caliber. The accuracy is unmatched, perfect for varmint hunting. I shot this coyote in the head at 120 yards with my CZ 527 varmint kevlar w/ Nikon Monarch 5-20 shooting hornady 40 gr vmax.
The proof is in the pudding - Added 2 years, 5 months ago. Added by Michael Wong
Here is proof that CZ's are inherently accurate rifles when paired with the right loads. This six round group was printed from 100m, off my bench in dead calm winds. It measures 13/32" center to center! If you or a friend are looking for a new rifle I would strongly suggest a CZ. No, I don't work for CZ. But if they are ever looking for a product tester or spokes person I would sure like to hear from them.
Brad Driver ! - Added 2 years, 5 months ago. Added by Michael Wong
Well, I spent the week experimenting with different bullets and powders(several combination's of 4 different bullets and 3 different powders). I would have been happy with a tack driver, what I have could be best described as a brad driver ! Consistent sub-1/2MOA groups off my bench, one group had 3 bullets through the same hole with the other 2 touching, giving me a 3/8" group @100 yards! This was achieved with a 52gr Sierra HPBT being pushed by 24.0gr of H-322 and Remington Small Rifle Bench-rest primers in Lake City brass fire formed and neck sized with the bullets seated .015" from the lands. Muzzle velocity chronographs at 3180fps. Needless to say I am one happy camper !!! Now it's back to the dog towns to vaporize as many as possible ! LOL

God I love CZ's !!
I just purchased my 4th CZ rifle, a M-527 Varminter in .223 Rem.
After doing a little sanding of fore-stock (the barrel was not floating when I pulled it out of the box)and mounting a scope it took 3 shots to zero in. The first real 5 round group I shot measured 5/8" CTC @100yds using 52gr Sierra HPBT match projectiles. I have absolutely no doubt that after I work up a handload specific to the weapon, my groups will come in under 1/2".
You can pay a lot more for an Anschutz or a Kimber and I doubt it would print a group any better, if as good, and you won't have that sweet set-trigger either ! CZ ! It's the only way to make bullets fly !!!

I'm an avid sportsman that truely appreciates CZ rifle accuracy and craftsmanship. I've really enjoyed my 452's, 550 .243's and now a pair of 527's Varmint .223. This coyote was taken at 651 yards with my CZ 527 .223 w/ Nikon 6.5 x 20x shooting Fiocchi 40 grain Vmax.

First Kill with CZ .204 - Added 3 years, 7 months ago. Added by Matt Wilcox
It was my first stand with my new CZ in .204 caliber. When I pulled up on it the rifle just felt right and I let the round go. The coyote went down with no problems. This is was my first of many coyotes to take with the help of the CZ 527. The weapon is awesome and I am very happy I chose CZ.
527 Varmint - Added 3 years, 8 months ago. Added by Jason LeMarr
When my Uncle Melvin was getting .77" groups at 300 yards of bench with his 527 Varmint, that intrgued me. So, I got one in a 204 also. The day I pulled it out of the box, I was impressed with the balance and then later was impressed with its accuracy. I load for the 204 and will say that the CZ is my goto rifle for coyotes.
Thanks for a great rifle.
