Gun Tests Magazine Selects

CZ USA CZ 83  380 ACP as

2010 “Best in Class” Pistol

NORWALK, CT (Dec. 22, 2010) — Gun Tests Magazine has named the CZ USA CZ 83 380 ACP as the publication’s “Best in Class” Pistol for 2010.

The pistol joins an S&W wheelgun, an AR-15 style 22 LR from Smith & Wesson, and a 12-gauge shotgun from Browning as the magazine’s “Best in Class” 2010 honorees.

Every December, Gun Tests magazine surveys the work of its testing staff to select guns the magazine’s testers endorse. These “best of” choices are a mixture of the original Gun Tests evaluation and other information the staff compiles during the year.

“Our accept-no-advertising policy gives us the freedom to choose guns that work really well,” said Gun Tests Publisher Timothy H. Cole. “Also, our experienced teams of testers conduct head-to-head evaluations between three, four or five guns, and we report the test results, both good and bad.”

The exact test model was the CZ USA CZ 83 No. 91302 380 ACP, $522, originally reviewed in the June 2010 issue of Gun Tests.

Gun Tests Editor Todd Woodard said, “The CZ 83 may be the best example of a traditional double-action pistol we’ve tested. This is a great semiauto for those who desire low recoil.”

Other impressions of the gun came from testers:

“The CZ 83 held 12+1 rounds, making it the only high-capacity pistol in the test. It transmitted the least recoil while producing the most power.”

“The hammer was properly shaped and large enough so that we didn’t feel our grip on the spur was ever in question. Plus, there was room for us to grasp the hammer with one finger wrapping partially around the hammer blocking the firing pin.”
